Live-in Language situation update…

So 2 weeks ago we went up to Königsfeld to visit a friend and scout out an opportunity to live with a German family and work with the local church and the German Bible Institute. Our desire was to have opportunities to practice speaking German in everyday situations and provide our skills to assist these local ministries. As we talked with our friend and explored the potential situations, we found ourselves asking why couldn’t we also do this in our community, back “home” in Lörrach.

In talking with our directors, we also understood a little more of the urgency of the workload, and felt a little of our own desire to be put to work. With half my team headed back to the states on furlough and projects piling up for Laura, we wanted to have a smoother transition than simply hitting the ground sprinting and hoping our legs kept up. We also have an office building to finish renovating, or at least help with, and then to move in.

So now we’ve prayerfully explored a few speaking situations, volunteer opportunities and community groups to be a part of here in Lörrach, not to mention a few things to jump into at church. So our prayers are being answered and hopefully our ability to speak German will benefit, so we can benefit the community.

OH yes, from your post it sounds like you have made a decision on a church to settle into too? Which one?

Yes, we really are at peace about this situation. We feel it is God’s will for us to stay here and start making in roads. So it wasn’t exactly the answer to prayer we thought it would be, but it really is better!

Interesting how things took a turn. We prayed for you last Sunday in the Mission’s group prayer. Sounds like the change will benefit all involved and be less stressful in that you don’t have to be uprooted. Great is Thy Faithfulnees..
